In Fall of 2015, the West Texas A&M University Student Senate passed a bill calling for a student body vote to start construction and funding of a new state-of-the-art football stadium on the WTAMU campus. If passed, the legendary Kimbrough Memorial Stadium will be put to rest after 50+ years. According to the students, they feel the current stadium is unwelcoming to alumni, run down, and not living up to it's potential in regards to benefiting the community.

The new stadium can right all these wrongs and at a much cheaper price. Renovations for the current stadium could cost all the way up to $50 million. On the other hand, the construction of a new stadium will only cost around $26 million.

If the bill passes, the new stadium will be put in the area where the soccer and baseball fields are now.

Students also believe it will be highly beneficial to the entire community by creating a new space to hold outdoor concerts.
