The 18th Annual High Plains Food Bank "Together We Can" food drive is under way. It starts today and will run until Friday. This year is still at a high level of need. Visit the High Plains Food Bank to help feed our neighbors in the Texas Panhandle.

A can of beans may not be much, but you can turn those beans into a meal for a family in the area. The High Plains Food Bank has a goal of raising 500 thousand meals for the area. You can bring can goods and non perishable foods to the Market Street United at 9:30 am until 10:30 pm.

This year the Food Bank is measuring the meals in pounds so everyone will understand how much it takes to feed our neighbors in need. This year they provided their one millionth meal in their Kid's Cafe program which feeds the area kids snacks and a hot meals Monday through Friday during after school and summer programs.

This Food Drive is important not just to the food bank, but to the people throughout the 29 counties in the Panhandle who won't have that special Holiday meal come Christmas time. So take the time and stop by Market Street United this week and donate, because something is better then nothing and it will go along way in helping families in need.
