However, if you grow up in a home without access to books, it makes a difference in who you become as you grow.  Books are lifesavers and are imperative to a child who is read to at home from an early age and before starting school to have higher success in school.

According to the study,  Family Scholarly Culture and Education Access: Books and Schooling in 27 Nations Study in 2010, children who have access to at least 20 books at home have 3 years more schooling than those children who don't have books at their home.

This is why Storybridge was founded in Amarillo and why they strive to make sure every child has access to books in their home.  The mission of Storybridge is:

To ensure that every child in the Amarillo area owns at least 20 great books from birth through elementary school enters kindergarten ready to learn to read, and unlocks all the benefits of literacy.

To accomplish their mission they are needing the help of the Texas Panhandle.  They are hosting their Dream and Donate MLK Day Book Drive.  The event will take place at the United Supermarkets at 45th and Bell on January 16, 2023.  They will be on-site from 12 pm - 4 pm taking book donations.  They are looking for new or gently used children's books.
