Singer Jason Michael Carroll's father, Jim, died Tuesday night (Sept. 27) after suffering an aneurysm in his stomach on Friday (Sept. 23).

Carroll posted a heartfelt message on social media, both saying goodbye to his father and sharing the sad news with fans. "Goodbye Daddy ... I love you," he writes alongside a photo of him holding his dad's hand.

Jim was a former marine.

On Friday, the country singer posted a video message asking fans for prayers after receiving a call that his father was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery, noting that "he's not doing so good."

"Dad lost 7 units of blood from an aneurysm that ruptured in his stomach," Carroll explained later. "The doctor was surprised he made it to the hospital with that much blood loss. His surgery went well but his body isn't working the way it should. His blood pressure is fluctuating and they are trying to keep him stable. The doctors said he had a 'fair' night, but there are still plenty of concerns including his COPD and wondering how he will respond when or if they can take him off the ventilator. My family and I thank you for all the prayers."

Carroll's father underwent bypass surgery in September of 2014, but prior to that had a procedure to open up an artery that was blocked. No word on funeral arrangements at this time.
