The Sahara Casino In Las Vegas To Shut Down To Make Way For New Projects
When Elvis Presley filmed his movie “Viva Las Vegas” he stayed at The Sahara. The Beatles chose The Sahara as their home in Sin City. The Rat Pack– Sammy Davis Jr, Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin were frequent visitors to The Sahara. A casino ingrained in Las Vegas history is now no more after 6 decades. According to MSN.com, it’s been a long time coming.
Owners SBE Entertainment decided earlier this year it was no longer economically viable to keep the casino open on the north side of the Strip, where several projects have been planned but shuttered the past few years.
Throughout the years ,much of the glitz and glamor once the likes of Marylin Monroe and Johnny Carson have faded away.
Instead of celebrities and lounge acts, the Sahara became known in recent years as home to round-the-clock $1 blackjack, the NASCAR Cafe with a six-pound burrito eating challenge and a replica of Dale Earnhardt’s race car that sat Monday with a flat tire, dents in its hood and coins thrown inside.
But like everything else in Vegas, something new and shiny will rise again in it’s place. And who know, maybe you will be the one to make new memories there. Just don’t forget , what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas !
