Louisaina Tech Running Back Tyrone Duplessis Found Dead Inside His Apartment!

Just completing his sophomore season as running back for Louisiana Tech, Tyrone Duplessis was found dead inside his apartment.

Tyrone Duplessis, 21, a student athlete in his third year at Louisiana Tech was found dead early Thursday morning in his off-campus apartment in Ruston, Louisiana. The Chief Investigator for the Coroner’s office says the cause of death is not yet know and that an autopsy has been ordered.

Duplessis, a native of New Orleans was an all-state running back for his high school of O.P. Walker High, he lead his high school football team to the state championship and the win in 2007.

He then came to Louisiana Tech, his freshman year for the Bulldog’s he ran the ball 70 times for 277 rushing yards and returning 4 kickoffs for a total of 88 yards. Duplessis missed the entire 2010 season with a knee injury which kept him off the field. He played 2 games this past season and carried the ball a total of seven times, six of those carries came in the last game of the season against New Mexico State as the Bulldogs finished in first place and clinched the WAC title with a 44-0 win.

“Tyrone was a valuable part of this football family,” football head coach Sonny Dykes told latechsports.com, “This is a tragic, senseless loss, but he made a lasting impact on this team, University and everyone that knew him.”

A team meeting was held Thursday morning to inform the team about Duplessis death. Grief Counselors have been provided for the teammates and coaching staff.
