On the heels of the recent events in Stinnett with their police chief resigning due to infidelity among the likes no-one has ever seen here in the Panhandle, another law enforcement officer in Perryton finds himself in trouble too.

Aaron Daugherty a three-year veteran found himself on the wrong end of the law as both Texas Rangers and the FBI arrested him on charges for transportation of child pornography.

I had a picture I wanted to put here but... no need to give this guy any credit.

The department placed him on administrative leave while the investigation continues

So, what exactly does all this mean? Do we have bad cops in the Panhandle? I don't think so. As with the chief in Stinnett, things came down pretty quick for these guys as it should.

I don't think you're going to find any officer of the law defending actions like these. It's a black eye, so to speak. And the way law enforcement has it these days, it's already tough enough without guys like these fouling it up. There are plenty of great officers who go to work their shift and would gladly do everything in their power to ensure that you and I can live work and play here without having to worry about what lurks in the shadows.

Now, I can't officially condemn this guy just yet as the investigation is ongoing, but it is a breath of fresh air to see how quickly he was taken out of commission and I feel for those who were victims and hopefully they can be served the justice they deserve.

I'm hoping we can see less stories like these and more about how officers continue to make living here safer.
