Crime happens every day, no matter where you live. However, the Texas Panhandle (Amarillo, especially) have had some some truly weird and disgusting crimes in 2021.

Yes, there have been some notable crimes here that aren't on this list, like the tragic shooting of Cindy Jayroe--but to be honest, that's more sad than it is strange, so bear with me, I think I've dug up some gems for you. These are more of a look at some crazy criminal escapades that you never read about in the news; and a few of them are the ones that took a strange turn that the initial news report never got wind of.

If you've been in the Texas Panhandle for a length of time, you'll have heard "there's something in the water here" at least once. And after collecting these stories, I tend to agree. I'm sure it's a matter of perspective, but dang. It seems like criminals like to turn it up to 11 around these parts.

But, what am I waiting for? I should go ahead and get into it, already.

Amarillo On 'America's Most Wanted'

I was surprised to find out recently that we also have a bit of a history with the show America's Most Wanted.

Digging through old news articles, I found several separate occasions where Amarillo and America's Most Wanted crossed paths. It makes me wonder if there are some that I've missed.
